Homer’s ancient war poem The Iliad reverberates in today’s world of unrelenting armed conflict.
Embark on a poignant journey through three captivating performances inspired by Homer's Iliad. From a Ukrainian soldier's dedication to a Sarajevo choir's resilience, to the Mediterranean island where asylum seekers face challenges, the works by Stanislava Pinchuk mirror the epic's themes of victory, grief, and loss. Experience the intersection of ancient tales with contemporary conflicts in this powerful artistic exploration.
Stanislava Pinchuk is the 2019 recipient of the Mordant Family Moving Image Commission for young Australian artists.
This exhibition is a three-channel video work, and includes simulated battle scenes, loud noises and coarse language.
The Mordant Family Moving Image Commission for young Australian artists is created in partnership with Professor Cav. Simon Mordant AO and Catriona Mordant AM, the City of Melbourne, John Allsopp from Web Directions, and ACMI.
